April 15, 2023 – HAPPY WORLD CIRCUS DAY!
High Wired Coffee Roasters celebrates today by highlighting two fantastic circus programs who have been thrilling audiences for decades.
The Florida State University, Flying High Circus, was established in 1947 and is still entertaining audiences today. A three-ring spectacular, the FSU Circus is student driven. The circus troupe do all their own rigging, costuming, choreography and show production. Participants must be degree-seeking students at FSU and audition for performing roles, but there is truly something for everyone. The program generates its own revenue each year by performances on campus on the fall and spring. For more information, check them out at www.circus.fsu.edu.
Another circus with a rich history is Circus Juventas in the Minneapolis/St. Paul area. Established in 1994, Circus Juventas has grown into the largest performing circus arts school in North America and accommodates over 1,500 students (aged 6-21) through year-round programs and summer camps. Circus Juventas combines the circus arts and story telling, in the Cirque Nouveau tradition, and creates spellbinding performances that are world-class experiences for participants and audiences alike. To learn more, visit their website at www.circusjuventas.org.
If ever in Tallahasee or Minneapolis during performing seasons, be sure to check them out. You will not be disappointed. In the words spoken at the end of every Flying High Circus performance since the 1980s, “May all your days be CIRCUS DAYS.”
